The honest answer: any open date, just not your last day
People search for the best month, the best week or the best day of the week, expecting a single clean answer. From our side the picture is simpler than that. The galleon's calendar runs every day of the week, the price is the same whichever date you pick, and we hold no better dates back for anyone. If a date is open in the calendar, that is a date we sail — the calendar itself is the honest answer, not a season table written in an office.
The one piece of timing advice that genuinely changes your day is this: book the boat early in your holiday, not at the end of it. A boat day depends on the sea, and the sea does not consult your flight schedule. If you have spent your last free morning on it and the plan has to change, there is nothing left to move to. Put it on day two or day three of a week and there are always days behind it.
Why you will not find a best-month table on this page
Plenty of pages will hand you a grid of monthly air temperatures, sea temperatures and rainfall and present it as insider knowledge. We do not measure any of that, so publishing it as if it were our own data would be a guess in a smart jacket. We would rather be the boat company that tells you only what it actually knows.
For the weather itself, two sources beat anything we could write: your hotel reception, who watch this coast every day of the season, and any ordinary forecast app for Belek, Kadriye and Side on the morning in question. What we can tell you is which parts of the day are fixed on our side and which are not, and that is the part below.
What we do not promise about the day itself
We publish no minute-by-minute timetable, no named bay and no number of swimming stops, and that is deliberate. Our record for this tour describes swimming breaks in coves along the Side coastline; it does not name them and it does not count them, so neither will we. Nobody can promise you a particular cove on a particular day, and an operator who does is promising something the sea never agreed to.
What is fixed is the shape of the day: a morning hotel collection, about six to seven hours on the boat, a barbecue lunch served on board, several swimming breaks, the foam party and pirate animation, and an afternoon return. Book the day for that shape, not for a photograph of one particular bay.
If your date turns out not to work
This is where the booking terms matter more than the forecast. Nothing is prepaid, no card is taken online, and free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before departure. A date you booked and cannot use costs you nothing to release, as long as you tell us more than 24 hours ahead, and there is no refund to chase afterwards because there was no payment to begin with.
That is also why a spare day in your week is such cheap insurance. You are never locked into the date you first chose, so plan the boat for day two, and quietly keep a later day free in case you would rather go then. If you are unsure about your date closer to the time, message us on WhatsApp and ask — we would rather answer honestly than have you guess.
It is a full day, and it starts in the morning
Time of day is not something you choose. The boat day is built as one block: you are collected from your hotel in Belek or along the Kadriye strip in the morning, driven to Side Harbour, and the galleon then cruises the Side coastline for about six to seven hours before an afternoon return. Belek has no boat harbour of its own in our records, which is exactly why the transfer to Side Harbour belongs to the tour and is included in the price.
We do not publish a fixed pickup time, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Your time depends on where your hotel falls in that morning's route, so it is confirmed to you the day before rather than promised in advance. The practical consequence for your planning: this is not a day you can share with a late check-out, an airport run or a second excursion. Keep the whole day for it.
When heat is the problem, the freshwater option is real
On a genuinely punishing day, some guests want the water rather than the sun deck, and there is a second boat day from Belek that is built for exactly that. The Green Canyon cruise does not go to sea at all. It runs on the freshwater reservoir behind the Oymapınar Dam near Manavgat, a deep, calm, dark-green lake held between pine-clad cliffs, with secluded coves our own record calls refreshingly cool.
You are picked up from your Belek hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, driven inland to the reservoir, and the same driver brings you back, roughly eight hours door to door. The captain anchors in calm, sheltered coves where you can dive straight off the deck, lunch is freshly prepared and served on board, and non-swimmers are perfectly happy staying on the sundeck. It costs €42 per adult and €25 per child aged 4 to 11, with infants free. It is a different kind of day from the galleon, not a substitute for it, so pick it deliberately.
If you want the market day, the market picks the date
The third option from Belek pairs the Manavgat open-air market with a river cruise, and it is the one trip whose date is not entirely yours to choose. The market runs on Mondays and Thursdays, so those are the only two days the tour departs and the only two the booking calendar will offer you. If the rest of your week is flexible, build it around a Monday or a Thursday and the other two boat days will fit around that.
The boat half of that day is a calm cruise on the Manavgat River aboard a traditional wooden riverboat, past reed-lined banks, local fishermen and birdlife, with a riverside lunch and a licensed English-speaking guide for the day. It is not a swimming trip and it is not a sea trip. Adults pay €43, children aged 4 to 11 pay €30, infants are free, and you will want cash in Turkish lira or euros for the market itself, plus comfortable shoes for the busy lanes.
How far ahead should you book?
The calendar accepts dates from tomorrow onward, so there is no need to organise anything before you fly, and there is no penalty for booking from your sun lounger either. There is no early-booking discount and no last-minute surcharge in our system: the price on the page is the row we will charge you, whether you book six weeks out or the evening before.
If you want to go today, the online calendar will not let you, and that is a system rule rather than a full boat. Message us on WhatsApp instead and we will tell you honestly whether today is still possible. One booking can hold up to 40 people, so families travelling together, or two or three families from the same hotel, can be handled on a single reservation rather than a stack of separate ones. That figure is a limit on the booking, by the way, not a statement about how many people the boat holds.
A simple way to slot the boat into a week
If you are working with a standard seven-night holiday, this is the shape that causes the fewest disappointments.
- Arrival day and the morning after: leave them alone. The collection is in the morning and the boat day runs into the afternoon.
- Aim for day two or day three for the galleon, so there are still spare days behind it.
- Keep one later day in reserve as your fallback date rather than filling every morning.
- If you also want the market and river day, put it on a Monday or a Thursday — the market's two days, and the only two this tour runs.
- Save the Green Canyon reservoir for the hottest day of your week, when cool deep freshwater beats a sun deck.
- Never put a boat day on your departure day, even with a late flight.
