What Belek is, and what that means for your week
Belek was built to be a resort, and it is very good at being one. The coast here is long, flat and sandy, there are pine woods behind the beach, golf courses inland, and hotels big enough that guests navigate them by landmark. That is not a criticism. It is exactly why a family can land, unpack once and not think about logistics again for a week.
It does mean the days start to rhyme. Breakfast, beach, pool, lunch, beach, dinner. Somewhere around the third or fourth morning, one day with a different horizon in it starts to sound appealing, ideally without renting a car, without organising half a holiday in advance and without a queue. That is the gap this page is about. We will be straight with you about which parts of it we actually operate and which parts we only know the way any visitor knows them.
The hotel day is the default, and it is a good one
Nobody should talk you out of the hotel days. The Belek strip is genuinely comfortable: the sand runs a long way in both directions, and whatever your hotel includes is already paid for. Two or three of those days will be the ones the children remember, and there is no virtue in filling every morning with an excursion.
What a hotel cannot give you is a change of viewpoint. You look at the same stretch of water from the same sunbed, and after a while the coastline stops registering at all. The simplest fix is not another buffet or a shopping trip. It is to get out on the water and look back at Belek from the other side, which is roughly the whole argument for a boat day.
The boat day: the one thing on this list we run ourselves
We are a boat operator, and this is the one day on the page that we sell and operate ourselves, so what follows is taken from the tour we actually run rather than from somebody else's brochure. It is the Alibaba pirate galleon: a painted, pirate-themed galleon with sails and rigging, about 6-7 hours on the water inside a full day out. Adults pay €25, children aged 4-11 pay €12.50, which is exactly half, and infants aged 0-3 travel free.
One thing surprises people, so we say it before you book rather than on the morning: as far as our records go, Belek has no boat harbour of its own. The day starts with a round-trip hotel transfer from Belek or Kadriye to Side Harbour, and that transfer sits inside the €25 rather than being added to it. From there the galleon cruises the Side coastline, the captain anchors in coves so guests can swim straight off the deck, a barbecue lunch is grilled and served on board, and at some point the foam party, the music and the pirate animation take over the deck.
It suits a mixed group better than almost anything else in a resort week, because nobody has to do the same thing at the same time. Children get the foam and the games, swimmers get the coves, and anyone who wants to sit still gets a sun deck and a coastline drifting past. It is not the right day for guests with limited mobility, which is worth saying plainly.

If the sea is not the point: the Green Canyon reservoir
Some days the sea is not what you want, usually when the coast is hot and everyone has had their fill of salt water. The Green Canyon day goes inland instead, to the freshwater reservoir held back by the Oymapınar Dam near Manavgat. It is worth being clear about this, because the photographs mislead people: this is not a Mediterranean cruise. It is a deep-green, calm, noticeably cooler lake between pine-clad cliffs, and the water you swim in is fresh, not salt.
It is a longer day and a calmer one, roughly 8 hours door to door including the scenic drive each way in an air-conditioned vehicle. Lunch is prepared and served on board, the captain anchors in sheltered coves so guests can dive off the deck into cool green water, and non-swimmers stay perfectly happy on the sundeck. Adults are €42, children aged 4-11 are €25, infants 0-3 are free, and professional local guide assistance is included.
Market and river: the day that is not about swimming
The third day we run pairs one of the Antalya coast's biggest open-air markets, at Manavgat, with a cruise on the Manavgat River itself aboard a traditional wooden riverboat. The river part is flat, reed-lined and slow: fishermen, birds, greenery on both banks. It is deliberately not a swimming trip, so do not book it as one.
For a lot of visitors the market is the point. Spices, fresh fruit and vegetables, Turkish cotton and textiles, leather goods, jewellery, souvenirs and the famous brand look-alikes, all of it open to bargaining. Bring cash in Turkish lira or euros, and shoes you can walk in through busy market lanes. One detail we repeat everywhere: the market runs on Mondays and Thursdays rather than every day, so those two are the only dates this excursion goes out on. The day runs 7 hours, costs €43 for adults and €30 for children aged 4-11, and includes the hotel transfer, a licensed English-speaking guide for the whole day and a riverside lunch.
Golf, the beach and the coast either side of you
Beyond the three days we operate, the two things Belek is best known for are visible from any hotel balcony. The first is golf: the courses sit inland, and a hotel desk will arrange tee times far better than any website can. The second is the beach itself, which runs much further in both directions than most guests ever walk, and which is worth an hour on foot early in the morning before the sunbeds fill.
The coast either side of Belek is the other obvious use of a free day. Side lies along the same shore and is where our galleon sails from; Manavgat sits a little inland on its river. We deliberately do not publish opening times, ticket prices or driving distances for anything we do not run ourselves, because we would be repeating what we had read rather than telling you what we know. What we do not run from Belek
Half of being useful is saying no clearly. There is real demand for all sorts of Belek boat trips, and the same handful of products are advertised on every corner of the strip, so it is worth knowing which of them we can genuinely put you on and which we cannot.
If you ask us for one of the trips below, we will tell you we do not have it rather than selling you something adjacent and hoping you do not notice on the morning. What we do have from Belek is three days on three different kinds of water, and we would much rather you picked the right one of the three.
- We do not run a private boat or yacht charter from Belek.
- We do not run a sunset or evening cruise from Belek.
- We do not run a fishing boat or a diving boat from Belek.
- We sell the Suluada trip from Side and from Antalya, but there is no Suluada departure from Belek.
How to fit a boat day into a resort week
One boat day per week is usually right; two if you are staying longer or the group cannot agree on what it wants. Put it mid-stay rather than on arrival or departure day. The transfer collects you in the morning and brings you back in the afternoon, so it takes the day but leaves the evening intact, and it gives you a lazy hotel day either side of it.
The practical side is deliberately light, and that is the part people find hardest to believe. Nothing is prepaid and no card is taken online: you reserve a place and pay in euros on the day of the tour. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure, so you can hold a date and still look at the sky the night before. Your pickup time is confirmed the day before and depends on where your hotel falls in the route, which is why we never publish a clock time we cannot keep.

- One booking can cover up to 40 people, so a family group does not have to split up.
